As a dog owner here are some unique dog facts you might now know.

1. Nearly 1/3 of dogs in animal shelters are purebred dogs.

2. Dogs have only about 1,700 taste buds, while people have about 9,000

3. Dogs have over 200 million receptors in their nose, while people only have 5 million. Canines can smell 1,000 times better then people.

16.  A dog’s field of vision is 270 degrees, while a humans is 180 – 190 degrees. This means a dog has a wider panoramic view and can look at something off to the side with their eyes without having to swivel their head.

They can tell the difference between a minute and an hour and have a sense of how long their owners have been gone.

Additionally, dogs can differentiate between different languages and can even understand some human words.

This is why dogs are often used as service animals, assisting people with disabilities and providing emotional support.

Another interesting fact about dogs is that they have a keen sense of smell.

They have 300 million olfactory receptors in their noses, while humans only have 6 million.

This ability makes them excellent at detecting scents and tracking, which is why they are often used in law enforcement and search and rescue operations.
