Dog Training

Dog Training

Have you been trying to train your dog but having a difficult time?

Many dog owners don't know the proper steps for dog training, and unless you know the right training methods you will be frustrated and have a disobedient dog.

The first thing to keep in mind is that dogs are pack animals, and they consider you part of the pack.

But if you aren't consistent and firm your dog won't see you as the leader of the pack.  Thus, you won't be able to get them to mind you.

You have to be the leader of the pack and understand how they think.

If not, you won't be able to eliminate all the bad behaviors such as;   dog jumping up, pulling on the leash, excessive barking, and more.

5 Basic Rules For Dog Training

Before your dog can be trained to stop barking, come when you call him, sit, stay, or other behavior you must learn the single most important step.

1. You must win over your dog’s mind so that your dog will see you as the leader of the pack and look to you for all the decisions.

If you don’t your dog will not listen to you and you will always struggle with his behavior.

Once you learn how important it is to have this leadership role, it will develop the bond between you and your dog so that will achieve fast and long-lasting results.

2. The second key step to dog training is to motivate them so that they will listen to you.

The best ways for dogs to be motivated are with treats and praise.

This makes your dogs’ experience enjoyable, so they will be likely to listen to you.

Your dog will find it pleasant to listen and obey you and get their reward for their good behavior.

So you need to spend time training with your dog so he looks forward to this enjoyable experience.

For dog training there are 3 main rewards.

Number one of course is food! Buy some healthy dog treats or get a single dry biscuit.

Number two is giving them a lot of verbal praise and be affectionate with patting and cuddling.

Number three is finding their favorite toy, stick, or object that they love to chase.

If you are fair and reward your dog in their training, they will work harder for you.

When first starting training you should use food or a treat in your dog training session, and also make sure you use a lot of affection when your dog does well.

And when you use food rewards make sure you follow these simple steps:

Vary your food rewards.

Don’t give your dog food rewards every time.

And never let your dog know what the reward is.

Then later on after they become trained with dog treats, you can then practice training with just a lot of praise and rewards.

This may be difficult at first as they always were expecting a treat.

Occasionally you can give them a treat, but don't overdo it.

Sometimes if you are out on a walk in the park, you want them to mind by a command and praise and not have a treat for them.

Conclusion:

The final step to achieving the best results for dog training is to be patient and practice!

Each time you practice and encourage their behavior you will get closer to what you want.

This is where rewards and praise come in handy!

By praise and rewards, you motivate your dog.   You should never need any negative type of dog training.  Don't ever scold your dog!
